DealerRater's Dealer of the Year Award Program recognizes a select number of car dealerships throughout the United States and Canada for outstanding customer satisfaction as expressed through customers’ online reviews posted on DealerRater.
In order to qualify for the award program, a dealership must meet the following criteria:
• At least 25 new reviews written on DealerRater’s web site during the previous calendar year.
• An average rating greater than 4.0, with 5.0 as the highest possible score.
• Must not have been blacklisted within the last 12 months.
DealerRater’s Dealer of the Year awards are given each February to car dealerships that have the highest PowerScore™ in their brand category, both at national and state levels. Each dealership’s PowerScore is determined using a Bayesian algorithm that considers the dealership’s average DealerRater star rating and the total number of reviews written about the dealership during the calendar year.
In addition, one dealership is chosen as the overall Dealer of the Year for having a PowerScore that outranks all other brand-specific Dealer of the Year winners and one dealership is chosen as the Canada Dealer of the Year for having a PowerScore that outranks all other brand-specific Canada dealers.

The construction of our new dealership is moving right along. The crews are working long days and getting everything ready for the all-new Ford Lincoln of Franklin. The crews have found a natural spring that runs down the length of the dealership. We knew something was down there but had no idea it was this big. The crews have dug way down about 28 feet and found this big Franklin spring. The heavy equipment keeps rolling in and the site work is moving as scheduled. Q. Can static electricity really cause an explosion while you are pumping gas?
A. Yes. Static electricity, the same thing that causes your socks to cling to your t-shirts when they come out of the dryer, is a real danger at the pump. But don’t worry. Doing laundry is safe. Static needs a partner in crime to ignite, in this case highly flammable gasoline.
You create static electricity all of the time without even realizing it. Static electricity is the build-up of an electrical charge on a surface. When materials are rubbed together or rubbed and then pulled apart, electrons are pulled from one surface and transferred to another. That means one surface is negatively charged and the other positively charged. And as the saying goes, opposites attract. If the charges are sufficient, the electrons will jump from one surface to another. When they hit the air, they get super-hot and glow or spark. That’s why you see a little electric spark when you shuffle around in your socks on a carpet and then release that electricity onto your friend’s arm. It’s like mini-lightning.
At the gas station, sliding in and out of your car seat causes the fabric of your clothing to rub against the material of your seat creating a static charge. Exiting and reentering your car create a sufficient charge to spell disaster. Your body could spark to the fuel nozzle and the result is a dangerous flash fire.
You can protect yourself by grounding your body before you begin fueling by touching a metal part of your car like your door frame or hood. This will discharge the electricity and you’re good to go. Resist the urge to get back into your car when you’re refueling, even if it’s really cold outside.
If the worst should happen and a flash fire occurs, leave the nozzle in the tank, get away from the vehicle and tell the gas station attendant what happened right away.
